Title: And Yet, You're So Sweet
Another Title: Though It's So, Chigira-kun Is Too Sweet
Native Title: なのに、千輝くんが甘すぎる。
Director: Takehiko Shinjo
Writer(s): Kujira Anan (manga), Haruka Okita
Producer: Minori Tabuchi, Yuichi Kamoi
Cinematographer: Mitsuru Komiyama
Release Date: March 3, 2023
Casts: Mei Hata, Kyohei Takahashi, Rihito Itagaki, Riko, etc.

Maaya Kisaragi (Mei Hata) is rejected by her crush (Ryousuke Sota). He also said bad things about Maaya in social media and this makes Maaya not only heartbroken, but also sad. While she's working in the school library, she happens to see that her school friend, Sui Chigira (Kyohei Takahashi) is surrounded by many girls. Chigira is a very popular school athlete. Out of the blue, Chigira asks Maaya to play 'unrequited love' game with him.

***
First of all, I want to mention that the title really suits the movie. It's a sweet high school love story. If you're a fan of high school romance movie, this one is for you.

Mei Hata as Maaya Kisaragi. She's so cute in these pictures!

The love story between the leads is (I will say it again) very sweet, very adorable. Chigira is the whole green forest; he is such a kind person, not only to Maaya, but he is also considerate towards the others (for example, towards his younger sister, towards the girls who have crush on him). Even though he is quiet, he does cute things for Maaya. There's a little bit of backstory about his character too.

Maaya and Chigira. Portrayed by Mei Hata and Kyohei Takahashi, respectively

This movie also shows a glimpse on how social media and online bullying affect someone's happiness.

The duration is also not too long. I would say this movie is fast-paced, but I feel there are certain things that feel a bit rushed. But overall, it's still fine.

Tezuka (Rihito Itagaki), Maaya and Chigira

For the plot, there's not much happened in this movie. However, I still find this movie is enjoyable to watch. But, I wish there is more backstory about the characters, especially Maaya, because I think viewers haven't seen much of her besides her love story. Moreover, other casts also don't make appearances much. It will be nice to see more of Maaya's friendship with Chika Obata (Riko) and Soma Tezuka (Rihito Itagaki). Adding the backstory will give depth in this movie, since it focuses more on the romance.

Riko as Chika Obara, Maaya's bestfriend

Tezuka, another friend of Maaya

Because this movie is lacking in the characters' backstories, I give this movie 3,5 out of 5⭐️ I still recommend this movie tho because it's very light, sweet and a fun movie to watch. Have you watched it?

P.S. I heard the manga is very popular in Japan. If you have read the manga, please leave your thoughts as well on the comment below💗
