So, what is this movie about? It's about Hajime Sumeragi (Masaki Okada) who works as a post office counter in Kyoto. He is a very good-looking man but he is always one step ahead in doing everything in his life. He is the kind of person who has fast tempo in life. On the other hand, there is Reika Chosokabe (Kaya Kiyohara), who is always being a slow-tempo person. She is a quiet person and loves taking pictures through her camera. Even though she is one second behind, she seems already made peace to it. One day, Hajime started going out with a cute local singer and they made a promise to go to fireworks festival together. Next day, Hajime wakes up late (which is very unlikely to him) and a whole day is gone without him knowing it. It seems like Reika Chosokabe knows about the mystery of his vanished day...
Kaya Kiyohara as Reika
Masaki Okada as Hajime
That's the synopsis of this movie. A little trivia: this movie is adapted from Taiwanese movie called My Missing Valentine. But I haven't seen the Taiwanese movie yet. Has anyone seen it? What do you think about it? Please comment down below😊
Young Hajime and Reika
When I first watched this movie, I know nothing about it and didn't expect anything as well. What made me convinced that this movie is a good one is based on the casts. Masaki Okada and Kaya Kiyohara always nailed their roles, so do in this one. Bright and positive Hajime, and quiet, and shy Reika are portrayed really well by Masaki and Kaya. I always admire Kaya for her acting. There is something about her acting that is very enchanting, even when she plays quiet, introverted character like Reika.
Sunburned Hajime asking about his mysterious photo
Also, yes, this is a comedy movie. The comedy elements makes me giggle, but I also love that the storyline is actually relatable to our daily life, like familial relationship and loss. The romance, on the other sides, is not very prominent in this movie. It's still good and makes the interaction between Reika and Hajime feels very sweet and genuine.
There is something in the storyline that connects the leads and I like it, but it is not fully discussed so I sense that there is a plot hole about this specific topic (sorry, I cannot say about this storyline, because it will lead into spoiler). Because of this, I give this movie 4 out of 5 stars⭐️ I definitely want to rewatch it, because this movie somehow feels cozy and teaches me about slow living and it's OK to slow down, sometimes☺️ have you guys watched it? Please comment movies or dramas that feel similar to this movie✨️🙏🏻 see you next time!♡
