Hello, everyone! Long time no see. I feel guilty for not writing in this blog, but at the same time, I also have so many things to do in real life(╥﹏╥) but let's start again and hopefully, I can be more consistent in the future!
As the title suggests, let's start September with my ultimate Japanese movie boyfriends( ⸝⸝´꒳`⸝⸝) I make this list with no particular order, since they are all the walking green flags.
Some of the movies that will be featured
1. Our Meal for Tomorrow (2017)
A love story between a quiet Ryota Hayama (Yuto Nakajima) and a cheerful and bright Koharu Uemura (Yuko Araki) that begins with a rice bag jump games in their high school days. They start dating and eventually fall in love when they have a date on a family restaurant.
Opposite attract, grumpy x sunshine, and a heartwarming story. I am kind of surprised that not many people talk about this movie. The chemistry is awesome and the story has a beautiful pace. There is a certain thing that tests Ryota and Koharu's love and that part really warms my heart and makes me fall even deeper for Ryota.
2. The 100th Love with You (2017)
In this movie, we follow Aoi Hinata (Miwa) who gets in an accident and she finds herself still alive but she is back to the day before the accident. Her childhood friend, Riku Hasegawa (Kentaro Sakaguchi), then tells her that he saves Aoi from the accident by doing this time travel thing. They start dating and live happily. But, will their happiness last?
A warning for this one, since this movie will make your eyes bawl😭😭😭 such a pure and lovely love story. We can see how much Riku loves Aoi; he does everything he can to save the girl he loves. Everything in this movie is perfect. Plus, it has amazing soundtracks.
3. The 8-Year Engagement (2017)
Takeru Satoh and Tao Tsuchiya as Hisashi and Mai respectively
This one tells about Hisashi (Takeru Satoh) and Mai (Tao Tsuchiya) who are about to get married when suddenly Mai falls ill and lapses into a coma. Hisashi always stays on her side from year to year. When Mai wakes up, she has no memories about Hisashi.
Another movie that teaches me the purity of love. Will someone stay when their love is tested so greatly? Hisashi proves that love does exist in our lives. He is such a walking green flag. This movie is a masterpiece. I love it so much. And, it is based on a true story.
4. Tapestry (2020)
Tapestry, as the title suggests, defines the invisible string theory. If you're not familiar with this theory, in the invisible string theory, it is believed that everyone has someone in their lives who is attached to them, and no matter what, these two will keep finding their way back to one another. Like Ren Takahashi (Masaki Suda) and Aoi Sonoda (Nana Komatsu). The two leads had such a hard time, especially Aoi who experienced abuse from her parents when she was young. Ren and Aoi live their lives separately, but they eventually always find their ways to one another.
This one is also so good, you guys. I basically just explained the whole plot (I'm sorry😅) but this doesn't mean that this movie loses its charms. Just believe me and give it a watch. The chemistry between Masaki and Nana is chef's kiss. In case you do not know, they get married in real life and their first child was born this year!⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
5. The Last 10 Years (2022)
I also must give you a warning for this movie. Prepare tissues if you are going to watch this one, because it will break your heart, but in the best ways possible. I will not give much explanation since I already wrote all my thoughts on this movie here, but in short, our heroine, Matsuri Takabayashi (Nana Komatsu), learns that she only has 10 years to live. So, she plans to not to fall in love. But, in a school reunion, she meets Kazuto Manabe (Kentaro Sakaguchi).
The Last 10 Years, apart from the love story, also teaches us about life. Matsuri and Kazuto do not have easy lives, but they find comfort and meaning in life when they are together. Kazuto who is slowly learning about Matsuri's illness also doesn't give up on her. Matsuri pushes him away, but he always stays beside her. Such a heartbreaking, yet beautiful story.
