Hello, everyone! How are you doing? Today, I want to share a review of the second season of Ao Haru Ride live action. If you're interested in watching the adaptation of this famous Japanese shoujo manga, then, please keep reading😊

(Official Poster)

Native Title: アオハライド Season 2
Another Title: Blue Spring Ride Season 2
Director: Mahito Kimura
Writers: Io Sakisaka (manga), Sayaka Kuwamura
Genres: Romance, Youth, Drama, Comedy
Episodes: 6
Release Date: January 19th, 2024 - February 23rd, 2024

As the first season ends, Futaba Yoshioka (Natsuki Deguchi) and Ko Mabuchi (Kaito Sakurai) grows closer to each other. Futaba is happy knowing that the trauma that Ko must face doesn't seem bothering him anymore. But things get complicated as Yui Narumi (Karin Fujiyoshi), Ko's friend from Nagasaki, is transferred to a school in the town. Yui is the girl with the same trauma as Ko's and she helps Ko while he was struggling with it during the middle school. Yui Narumi admits to Futaba that she's in love with Ko.

The second season is much better than the first, in my opinion.

I think the thing that stands out the most is the chemistry between the casts. If you read my review of the first season, you will remember me saying that the casts felt awkward towards each other (not between Natsuki and Kaito, but in the friend groups setting). This might not be a big deal for some people, but in my opinion, great chemistry is important since it makes the atmosphere in any kind of relationship feels genuine.

(Sara Shida, Natsuki Deguchi and Riko as Shuko Murao, Futaba Yoshioka and Yuri Makita respectively)

(Ko Mabuchi and Aya Kominato, played by Kaito Sakurai and Taisuke Niihara respectively)

The friend groups (the girls, Ko and Aya Kominato) look so real now. Maybe it is because the casts already spent time together during the first season so the friendship comes naturally and they look very comfortable with each other. And it's great to see that!

Speaking of the chemistry, have I mentioned that I love Natsuki and Kaito as Futaba and Ko? They look so good together! They are so adorable and make a great couple. I think their chemistry is top notch. It's one of my favourite thing in this series.

(The way they look at each other tho🥺💗)

And, there are so many moments that make my heart fluttered! Things get even more complicated when Toma Kikuchi (Ryosuke Sota) openly said that he likes Futaba and asks her to be his girlfriend. To be honest, I was kinda rooting for Futaba and Toma, but it cannot be denied that Futaba and Ko are made for each other🤭🤭

(Are you team Toma or team Ko Mabuchi?🤭)

The casts also have so many improvements in terms of acting. I'm also glad that there are few new characters like Toma Kikuchi's friend, Haruhiko (Sol Miyazato), the side story of other characters like Shuko's love triangle are also presented which add colour to the story.

(Toma Kikuchi and Haruhiko Uchimiya, played by  Ryosuke Sota and Sol Miyazato respectively)

I also love the atmosphere and the way the scene is shot. I don't know why, but they somehow make the entire series looks cozy.

What I dislike is the pace. Still a bit rushed towards the end, but it's not a big deal since the entire series wrapped up beautifully. It is a solid 4⭐️ from me.

If you're looking for a short romance drama, you have to check this one out, especially if you like Kaito Sakurai and Natsuki Deguchi (they are beautiful together🥰). I hope you found my review useful, and if you enjoy it, please check the other ones as well. See you next time!💗
